THE MARCO SIMONCELLI MISANO WORLD TRACK

The village of Santamonica is the legendary place for motor-racing enthusiasts. In fact, the Misano World Track is located in the district dedicated to the champions of two and four wheels.
The Misano World Track, built in 1972, has been hosting the great events dedicated to two and four wheels for years and owes its media success to the Grand Prix of San Marino and the MotoGP Riviera which it has been hosting since 2007 and which every year is the most attended event in Italy (in 2019 there were 160,000 fans attending).

Dedicated to the late Marco Simoncelli, it consists of an international racetrack which, in addition to the international races (Misano is one of the few places in the world where two World Motorcycle Championships are held – in fact, in addition to MotoGP, there is also Superbike) offers fans the chance to get on the track with their own motorcycles thanks to free practice.

In addition to the racetrack where Valentino Rossi and his teammates race, the Misano Track also offers a racetrack (Misanino) not only for competition and amateur kart races but also for motard, minimotard and pitbike races and a flat track that is often used as a training Track by MotoGP pro teams for their riders.

It is not uncommon to find there Graziano Rossi a great fan of the sector and a fan of everything that has an engine. And this is in addition to many speed drivers who train their reflexes in the dirt track.

Among them, for example, there are the young teams of the VR46 Riders Academy and the riders of the Italian Federmoto because the facility also became a federal centre used to train Italian motorcycling young talents.

RACETRACKS A FEW STEPS AWAY FROM THE SEA

In Misano the passion for “dai de gas” is so strong that you can find racetracks everywhere even a few steps away from the sea.

Among the historical racetracks in Romagna, for example, there is the Riviera Kart. Located next to the Adriatic State Road in Portoverde, during summer it is the meeting place of many tourists from the coast who can compete in exciting Kart competitions of the latest generation. The facility is illuminated.

Arena 58 is located less than 100 metres from the sea. It is a clay ring-shaped racetrack located in via Romagna, in the heart of Misano and it is the symbol of the devotion to the motorcycles of Romagna. It was the idea of some enthusiasts who decided to turn an unused agricultural field into a speedway track first and then a flat track.
Thus a track was born, approved by the Italian and international Federmoto, which hosts during the MotoGP a stage of the World and National Flat Track Championships and during the rest of the year is made available to fans for free practice.

WORLD EVENTS

Today, the Misano World Track “Marco Simoncelli” is among the leading circuits at the national level and among the best in the world. The heart of international events is linked to motorcycles with the MotoGP World Championship “Gran Premio di San Marino and the Riviera of Rimini”, the SuperBike “World Championship Riviera di Rimini Round” and the CIV (Italian Speed Championship), the Misano Classic Week End with historic motorcycles and the World Ducati Week which takes place in Misano every two years.

But the four wheels also stand out for events that gather here many fans. This is the case of the Gran Prix Truck, the event dedicated to truck racing and fans, the GT World Challenge Europe where the GT Gran Turismo cars of prestigious brands such as Ferrari, Bentley, Aston Martin, Porsche, McLaren, Audi and BMW compete.

The MWC will also host the world finals of the Super Trofeo Lamborghini.
