Misano Adriatico, 21 June 2024 — Summer in Misano is coloured by the sounds, colours, and energy of basketball. From 21 June to 20 July, Misano transforms into the largest playground on the Romagna Riviera with events, initiatives, competitions, and shows dedicated to basketball: Misano Basketball Village.
Misano Basketball Village, conceived and created by the’Asd Misano Pirates It is a sport and training project with a focus on young people, basketball, and the values and emotions that sport can convey. The format offers a series of initiatives that explore basketball in all its essential components: entertainment, social and cultural value, training, play, and competitiveness.
The appointment schedule opens on Friday, 21 June with the “Romagna Mia Youth Tournament” Dedicated to the Under 13 male and female categories, Esordienti and Aquilotti. Until Sunday 23 June, over 500 boys and girls are competing at the Rossini Sports Centre in Misano for the Mbv2024 trophy, this year dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Secondo Casadei's “Romagna mia”. The “street style” soul of basketball merges with the folk soul of the song that tells the story of Romagna and its tradition.
Another long weekend of basketball brings June to a close. On Friday 28th, Misano will host the national integrated basketball tournament. “Limitless basket” with the participation of teams from Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany and the Marche.
On June 29th and 30th, the [event name] returns to the Rossini Sports Centre playground “Regional 3x3 Finals (Men’s and Women’s)” of the Italian Basketball Federation - Emilia Romagna with the junior teams who won the qualifying rounds that took place in recent months across the region.
Saturday 29 June, at 9:15 PM in piazzale Repubblica, basketball becomes a spectacle with “The playground show”. The piazza becomes a large open-air playground where music, dance, and basketball come together for an evening dedicated to the young people of the area who, on the playground set up in the centre of Misano, will find a space to express themselves and share their passion.
Misano Basketball Village continues in July with its high-level sports training event featuring VL CAMP signed Victoria Libertas Carpegna Prosciutto Basket Pesaro. From 8 to 20 July, Misano will host a major basketball event for young athletes who want to deepen their basketball technique with the VL Basket Pesaro staff.
On Friday 12th July at 9 PM, basketball descends on the piazza, at Parco del Sole, with the “Basketball Players” Party", an evening of fun and entertainment together with the athletes of VL Pesaro and Misano Pirates.
Saturday 20 July is all about basketball played with The Basketball Games At the Rossini Sports Centre in Misano, with its wonderful playground for 3x3 and 1x1 men's and women's tournaments, reserved for junior and senior categories. The tournaments are open to all and registration is free.
Misano Basketball Village is also culture. During the month of activities, the project will be launched “Even books don't sit on the bench.” for the promotion of reading and sports culture through the creation of a small travelling sports library, which will be housed at the Rossini Sports Centre and will be freely accessible to the boys and children who attend the centre.
Misano Basketball Village 2024, now in its fourth edition, focuses on the drive that compels each person to cultivate their passions with love, determination, and dedication. The artwork for the 2024 project, created by graphic designer Nicolò Rigobello, draws inspiration from the great American basketball champion, Kobe Bryant, to represent the immense passion and dedication for sport and basketball that underpins the Misano Basketball Village project. Kobe, who tragically passed away in a plane crash in 2020, played basketball as a child in Reggio Emilia, the city where his father played. For basketball fans, he embodies the spirit of a true champion, determination, and immense love and respect for the sport.
Misano Basketball Village is a long month of basketball, but it's also an ongoing laboratory, the Dream Team Misano Pirates, which leaves room for young people to express their aptitudes and experience sport holistically, developing skills and abilities, both on the field of play and in communication, event organisation, hospitality, and entertainment. This is because sport is not just about playing a match, but also an opportunity to find one's professional path, to engage in civic duty, and to dedicate oneself to a social objective.
The Misano Basketball Village initiatives are carried out in collaboration and with the patronage of Misano Adriatico Municipality and of the Italian Basketball Federation - Emilia Romagna. The events are free to enter.
