Misano Adriatico overlooks the sea, and it's clear that here fish is cooked the old-fashioned way, that is, the way of fishermen and women who knew how to turn “poor food” into a true delicacy.
The fish is clearly always fresh, even though the flavours of cockles and grilled sardines reign supreme.
But the land too has its charm and knows how to offer unique products that translate into olive oil, cheeses, and good Sangiovese.

The Kitchen of the Azdore

The Romagnol Azdore were the true pillars of the families, queens of the hearth and unrivalled cooks. Today, the Azdore are the attentive and passionate guardians of the gastronomic traditions of a region that makes good food and hospitality a true cult.
We owe them handmade piadina made the traditional way, homemade pasta, meat ragù, and above all, a love for good food. In the kitchens of numerous restaurants in Misano Adriatico, we are still fortunate enough to find true Romagnol Azdore (traditional female chefs) and thus be able to taste the most typical offerings of our city.

Typicality

When talking about gastronomy in Misano, it's not just about good food. It's also about places with a soul and a heart's history.

For example, at Da Paolino's there's a story connected to Marco Simoncelli. Every evening at around 10:20 PM, Marco's motorbike is switched on at the venue, and for five minutes the only sound heard is the roar of the engine's power, reminding us that Misano is a temple of good taste but also of sport and adrenaline.

In Misano, the piadina is a PDO and PGI product

In 2014, Piadina Romagnola officially became a PDO and PGI product with legally recognised characteristics. Misano Adriatico is one of the Riviera municipalities that can display the Piadina Romagnola quality certificate, and there isn't a single resident of Misano who hasn't made it at home at least once in their life.

Despite the simple recipe and ingredients, the consistency of the piadina can vary from restaurant to restaurant, and depends a lot on the “touch” of the Azdora that works. What remains unique is the flavour and goodness with which it is now known internationally.

The culinary traditions of Misano speak of simple, genuine, and true flavours, because they are made with love and passion. Our dishes are redolent of the sea, of freshly caught fish, of homemade pasta made as it used to be, of the Romagnola piadina which has become our bread over time. The ingredients come from the hinterland and include cheeses, wines, and good oil from our hillside olive groves. Guests who come to Misano know how to appreciate its authenticity, and this also comes through in the flavours we offer. This is why our cuisine is known and appreciated throughout Europe.
