SENTIMENT, Emotional Education – Philosophical Review
Feelings, affections, and emotions accompany our existence and influence our path towards more or less happy developments: Such is their impact on human existence that the humanities and social sciences, medicine, and even biology and chemistry of the body have been employed to grasp their meaning, nature, and dynamics. The four-day philosophical event in Misano, which engages a vast audience each year, is dedicated to the theme of emotional education.
From 26 to 28 June 2024 under the direction of Gustavo Cecchini Distinguished thinkers will engage in dialogue with the public on the necessity of emotional education, which is more crucial than ever today, in order to acquire the psychological sensitivity capable of distinguishing good from evil, love from hate, and engagement from indifference.
Opens Wednesday, June 26th, in the garden of the Municipal Library, philosopher Silvano Petrosino which declines one of the most important and enigmatic feelings: Friendship. What meaning do we give to the word »friend' today? What kind of experience does the term friendship describe? What are the traits that allow it to be recognised? Can one die from too much friendship? And can one die for a friend? These are just some of the questions that one of the most astute Italian philosophers on the world of feelings will address. Friendship as an act of gratuitousness, therefore, with which we are invested beyond any of our own initiative and decision.»
Thursday 27 June in Piazza Repubblica The philosophical “star” of the moment has arrived, Umberto Galimberti with a lesson titled: When life was guided by the heart: emotions and feelings in the age of technology. Umberto Galimberti, Italian philosopher, essayist, and psychoanalyst, will recount, in a captivating evening, how sentiment is not a natural gift, but one to be acquired and cultivated culturally. The ancients learned about sentiments through mythology. In the grand Olympus of Greek culture, we find the entire spectrum of human sentiments, a phenomenology of human feelings. In Olympus, the Greeks described passions, emotions, and sentiments – what Dante calls «human movements.» In our time, we can relearn them through literature, a privileged space where we learn pain, boredom, love, despair, passion, and romanticism. Today's «distance» from emotions, from linguistic complexity in favour of easy simplifications, coupled with an unrestrained use of technology, provokes a worrying and disorienting emotional confusion. Galimberti will speak of emotions and emotional resonance through a map of ideas, cultural references, and literary passages that awaken and move us in a time numbed by the digital. Galimberti is exceptionally accompanied by performer Raffaello Fusaro, who interprets with intensity and energy some literary passages capable of reminding us that emotions must always be re-learned.
Friday 28 June, still in Piazza Repubblica, Enzo Bianchi founder of the monastic and ecumenical Community of Bose, who will give the address Compassion. Empathy is not an attitude exercised from top to bottom, with superiority, like looking down on someone with condescension “taking pity on him,” nor is it a manifestation of weakness, but it means “to suffer with,” according to its Latin etymology.cum + I sufferThus, compassion has again come to mean a movement with which we go to where there is evil and share the sufferer's situation with them, participating in the other's suffering: touched by another's suffering, we always feel the pain as his, until feeling it with him like our. The pain of another becomes my pain. Compassion is not the solution to suffering, but it is the only sensible response that humanity can give in the face of evil. It means suffering because of another's suffering, accepting that the other person is also making me suffer with their suffering. And be careful: this feeling, this passion, which must first be embraced in interpersonal relationships, cannot be limited to that dimension, but must open a path on a social and even political level.
Nostalgia It will be the closing theme, Saturday 29 June in the Library gardens, with the philosopher Lucrezia Ercoli. Title of your talk: Lost Paradises. The Philosophy of Nostalgia. “The true paradises are the paradises we have lost” wrote Marcel Proust. Nostalgia is a feeling that has always accompanied us. But today, more than ever, the present seems opaque to us, the future uncertain and unpredictable: and we prefer to take refuge in the regret of a supposed golden age, in the memory of “how we were” before losing our illusions. Technology fuels this nostalgic epidemic. Our smartphone, instead of taking us into the future, has transformed into a time machine that, with a sepia-toned filter, tinges the present with melancholic longing. But it is a dangerous game, nostalgia can become an incurable disease. In this eternal return of the same, the space for thinking about the future and producing the new seems exhausted.

We leave it to you to tell the tale of Romagna, the joy, the charm and the fun of a holiday focused on the sea, the beach, sport, nature, art and culture.
Why come for a holiday in Romagna? Because there's the sea too!
Romagna, the holiday for Italians
“You've seen them often, now it's time to try them” This is the slogan chosen by the International Two-Wheeler Exhibition to launch the EICMA Riding Fest, a new free format created for EICMA's 110th anniversary.
The event will take place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on 27 and 28 April, offering the opportunity to directly test the motorcycles presented at EICMA 2023.
The EICMA Riding Fest programme is designed for every type of motorcycle enthusiast. The event offers a wide range of experiences to explore the passion for motorcycles from every angle: from free demo rides, to off-road riding on specific routes, to on-track tests with the most powerful supersport and hypernaked bikes.
Special attention is also given to young people, with initiatives organised in collaboration with the Italian Motorcycle Federation, which include test rides of 125cc motorbikes and educational and recreational activities for children aged 5 to 12, thereby promoting a passion for two-wheeled vehicles among future generations.
To access the event for free, simply register on the eicma.it website. The free ticket will grant entry to the paddock with over 250 motorcycles available for testing, shows, entertainment, games, and activities dedicated to young people and adults. The test rides of the motorcycles provided by the manufacturers will also be free, unlike the track experience which will, however, have a cost, with proceeds being donated to charitable initiatives.
Misano Adriatico, 6 April 2024 – A beach party at 2000 metres above sea level: that’s the initiative planned for today in Obereggen, in the heart of the Dolomites, 20 minutes from Bolzano, born from the collaboration between the “Misano Participation Foundation: Sea, Sport and Culture” and the South Tyrolean location.
A delegation of around thirty people set off from Misano Adriatico for Obereggen, starting with Filippo Valentini, the Councillor for Sport for the Municipality of Misano, Luigi Bellettini, the President of the Foundation, the Visit Misano staff, and many hotel owners and beach operators.
For one day, Obereggen Snowpark was transformed into a white beach, complete with sun loungers, parasols and an artificial swimming pool, to promote the unique attractions of Misano Adriatico at high altitude. To this end, informational material was prepared on Misano's "EcoVie" (Green Routes), summer events such as "La Notte Rosa" (The Pink Night), and the many sporting events that bring Misano to life all year round, starting with Formula E next weekend.
Even a taste of traditional food, with 600 piadine prepared for the many tourists present in the snow.
“Together with the Foundation, we believed in this promotional activity which takes place in a location frequented by many tourists, at the end of the ski season. Mayor Fabrizio Piccioni comments The aim is to make a wide audience aware of the many opportunities that Misano offers, with its territory and events. Given the success of the initiative, we will evaluate, together with Obereggen, opening a channel for mutual promotion of our locations.
“We're only halfway through the day but we've already received so much praise – Luigi Bellettini is an Italian painter and sculptor renowned for his emotive and often unsettling works. He frequently explores themes of human vulnerability, decay, and the fragility of existence. His artistic style is characterised by a raw, expressive quality, often employing muted palettes and distorted forms to convey a sense of psychological depth and unease. Bellettini's sculptures, frequently made from found objects and unconventional materials, are particularly striking for their visceral impact. He has exhibited internationally and is considered a significant contemporary artist. ”There are lots of young people and we've had many interactions with the ski school. The piadina at 2,000 metres was a success! All in all, very positive, including the splendid weather.".
Also planned is a special Freestyle competition for Snowboarders and Freeskiers, with two tickets to the RedBull Grand Prix of San Marino and the Riviera di Rimini up for grabs for the winner.
He will be the philosopher Silvano Petrosino to close, Friday 22 March, the exhibition ”Ritratti d’Autore – Classics that Help Us Live". On the stage of the Astra Theatre, at 9:00 PM, they will present the masterpiece of world literature".” Memoirs of Hadrian” by Marguerite Yourcenar, a book of extraordinary depth speaks of life and death, of conflict and love, of freedom and human rights.
Through the words of Emperor Hadrian, Marguerite Yourcenar puts to paper the fear of losing vitality, eros, and youth, and of facing the inevitable approach of the end. One element that makes this long epistle so engaging is its ability to expose Hadrian as a man and as an emperor, in his ambitions as well as his fragilities. Hadrian's Memoirs represents an example for those who wish to engage in reflections on their own lives and on the role of memory. A classic to rediscover as it punctually reflects on crucial issues for human beings of any era.
Silvano Petrosino, one of the most esteemed Italian philosophers, is a full professor of Religious Anthropology and Media, and Theories of Communication at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. He has engaged with the phenomenological and existentialist traditions of contemporary philosophy, dedicating significant studies and translations to the works of Emmanuel Lévinas and Jacques Derrida. His research has explored the nature of the sign and language, the relationship between rationality and morality, and the analysis of the structure of experience, with particular attention to the relationship between word and image, between desire and the human, also analysing the ethical dimension of communication and media. Among his recent works: Emmanuel Lévinas. Le due sapienze (Milan 2017); Il desiderio. Non siamo figli delle stelle (Milan 2019); Il miraggio dei social. Euforia digitale e comunicazione responsabile (Novara 2019); Lo scandalo dell’imprevedibile. Pensare l’epidemia (Novara 2020); Dove abita l’infinito. From 16 December to 17 February, 4 appointments dedicated to shows that tackle a variety of relevant current social themes with a refined blend of irony and incisiveness. The ironic approach allows for complex or delicate issues to be brought to attention in an accessible and engaging way, while the sharp element stimulates critical reflection from the audience.
THE APPOINTMENTS
16 December 2023 | Giobbe Covatta – Scoop: Donna Sapiens
A show that, with its irreverent and sacrilegious language, seeks to demonstrate the superiority of women over men. To validate this thesis, the comedian ranges from history to sociology to medicine, and from every point of view, the male of the human race emerges as a loser and ridiculous compared to women.
13 January 2024 Natalino Balasso – Balasso Dictionary
The Balasso Dictionary is a corollary to the previous monologue, Velodimaya, on our understanding of the world. What governs this new monologue is the word “definition”. Every concept is a closed box whose label we only read: the tag. What's inside the box? Why do we insist on keeping those boxes closed? This is where Balasso will showcase the art in which he now specialises: breaking open boxes.
3 February 2024 Roberto Mercadini – The Beauty of Words
A monologue that is also a hymn to hymns, a speech about giving speeches, a declaration of love for declarations, a wish that comes true the very moment it is uttered. Roberto Mercadini recounts stories from all over the world about the written and spoken word: the Hebrew Bible; the Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the K'iche' Maya; Indian mythology. And the dizzying, utterly true story of Helen Keller, the deaf and blind child who learned to read, write and speak.
17 February 2024 Davide Calgaro – Fresh winds
The youngest Italian stand-up comedian reveals what it's like to be twenty, move out on your own, and the problems of someone who, precisely because they're young, is never taken seriously. He'll comically recount, from firsthand experience, the transition from adolescence to adulthood and the troubles that come with it, all while having a laugh.
The festival is part of the "Classico Contemporaneo" project, coordinated by Il Tassello Mancante ODV, in collaboration with Arcipelago Ragazzi aps and with the valuable contribution of Compagnia Fratelli di Taglia, an innovative initiative that aims to introduce young people to the world of theatre by treating it as a real business.
This project encompasses all facets of a universe as complex as it is fascinating. From the initial pedagogical/workshop phase, carried out in collaboration with the Sociosemiotics of Fashion course at the University of Bologna in Rimini, to the production phase with the staging of a performance inspired by Dante's Inferno, realised in close collaboration with the young talents involved.
A further step forward is represented by the creation of Astra Verba Ridens, thanks to the valuable support of the Municipal Administration of Misano Adriatico.
