“ECCE HOMO”: THE NEW MISANO PHILOSOPHICAL REVIEW WILL FOCUS ON MAN AND HIS PLACE IN THE WORLD

Five dates, starting on Friday 3rd October, which will host five illustrious thinkers

Misano Adriatico, 4 September 2025 Less than a month until the philosophers return to Misano Adriatico. The philosophical review, in its autumn edition, curated by Gustavo Cecchini and titled “Ecce Homo – What Makes Us Human or Inhuman”.

From the famous phrase “Ecce Homo” (Behold the Man) with which Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea, presents Jesus, scourged and bleeding, to the crowd demanding his crucifixion, a series of reflections will be explored, forming the heart of a festival taking place over five Fridays at the Astra Theatre in Misano Adriatico.

“Are we not becoming lost souls, without any points of reference, wandering like castaways in the sea of uncertainty, fear and resentment?” asks Gustavo Cecchini. "We have returned to killing on a vast scale, we are crushed by the cages of our ego, we devastate the environment, we prefer aggression to knowledge, paranoia to friendship. It is a scenario we know well, unfortunately. Never before has humankind been called upon to redefine itself, to find its own identity.".

The philosophical review will focus on man and his place in the world and will feature five distinguished thinkers.

  • To open the programme, Friday 3 October, it will be Vito Mancuso with a reading titled “Free to live: the meaning of things beyond the finitude of life”.
  • The next appointment, Friday 10 October, it will be with Marco GuzziThe title of your lecture is“I am he who becomes”.
  • Friday 17 October the philosopher will take to the Astra stage Silvano Petrosino with a reflection titled: “Man's surprise: the exception of reason and desire”.
  • Paolo Ercolani will be the guest on Friday 24th October, when he will bring his lecture “The mystery of man: human, too human, inhuman”.
  • It will close, Friday 7 November, Marcello Veneziani. “The Übermensch, euphoria and perdition. Marx, Nietzsche and the time to come”is the title of their talk.

This philosophical review also enjoys the important support of Rivierabanca and Romagna Acque.

All appointments will begin at 9:00 PM. Admission is free, until capacity is reached.
